Off the Record: Kirk Cameron ‘Doesn’t Feel Safe Anymore,’ Flees California for Tennessee
Kirk Cameron is the latest celebrity to leave California. On Wednesday, the Growing Pains actor announced his plans to move out of the Golden State, citing concerns about the state’s direction and growing division. Cameron, a father of six, explained that he chose Tennessee for its “healthy freedom mindset” and because three of his grown children already live there. He told the Washington Examiner, “If everything hits the fan and there are serious economic problems and division, they want to be around people who are all about God, family, and country. It’s a really nice place to be.” The actor has noticed many “California refugees” in Tennessee. “It’s shocking how many Californians are here. When I see them in the grocery store, I tell them, ‘Don’t California our Tennessee,’” he joked. Cameron’s sister, Candace Cameron Bure, is among those who have also left California for safety and security. Despite the influx of ex-Californians, Cameron believes Tennessee is a better place to live due to its “good wholesome values and, equally as important, good whisky.”
