Keanu Reeves, one of the most beloved celebrities of his generation, recently shared some unfortunate news that has left fans concerned. Known for his kindness and humility, Reeves’ revelation about a recent injury has drawn immediate attention.
The Incident
Reeves, currently busy filming his latest project Good Fortune, appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier this week and recounted the story. The 59-year-old actor revealed that he broke his kneecap during filming. Despite his extensive experience with action-packed movies like The Matrix and the John Wick series, this injury was caused by something rather innocuous.
Colbert asked Reeves, “What happened? Who got to you?”
In a playful, tough-guy voice, Reeves responded, “No one got to me. Accident got to me.”
The Details
Stephen further probed, “Were you jumping from building to building? Were you doing a cartwheel past razor blades? What were you doing?”
Reeves explained, “No, Stephen, I was walking into the dressing room. I will tell it quick.”
The actor shared that the incident occurred while filming a scene for the upcoming comedy Good Fortune, alongside Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogen. After finishing a scene where they were in a cold plunge, Reeves was doing the “cold shuffle” in a room with protective carpets. Unfortunately, his foot got caught in a pocket as he was walking.
Reeves stood up to demonstrate in front of Stephen’s desk, showing how his knee gave way. “And I spiked. Like, spiked,” he said, mimicking the incident. “Just drove it into the ground.”
The Aftermath
“My patella, kneecap, cracked like a potato chip. But I didn’t know that. But then once my knee was blowing up,” Reeves continued.
“Comedy is hard, man,” Reeves joked.
“This was not an action film with Aziz and Rogen,” Stephen clarified.
“No, it was comedy,” Reeves confirmed.
“Welcome to my life,” Stephen joked in response.
Reeves had been spotted filming on crutches with an ice pack on his knee in January this year.
About the Film
Good Fortune not only stars Aziz Ansari but also marks his directorial debut. The film, written and co-produced by Ansari, also stars Sandra Oh and Keke Palmer.
Keanu’s fans are undoubtedly wishing him a speedy recovery, eager to see him back in action both on and off the screen.
