George W. Bush is celebrating the newest addition to his family.

The 78-year-old former President of the United States proudly announced the birth of his grandson on social media. On Tuesday, August 6, Bush shared a touching photo on Instagram, congratulating his daughter, Barbara Pierce Bush, and her husband, Craig Coyne, on the arrival of their second child.

Just a few days earlier, the couple—already parents to a two-year-old daughter named Cora Georgia—welcomed their son, Edward Finn, into the world.

The Instagram photo features Barbara and Craig lovingly holding their newborn son in a hospital bed, their faces radiating joy as they gaze at him. In the caption, Bush wrote, “Welcome to the world, Edward Finn Coyne. @laurawbush and I are proud grandparents of our newest blessing, born on August 4 and lovingly named in honor of his great-grandfathers. Congratulations to Barbara, Craig, and big sister Cora Georgia.”

Barbara’s twin sister, Jenna Bush Hager, was the first to share the happy news on Monday, August 5. The Today show co-anchor expressed her excitement about becoming an aunt again on Instagram.

“My sister had a little mister and I fell madly in love with Edward Finn!” Jenna, 42, captioned a series of photos capturing special moments after Edward’s birth. One photo shows Jenna feeding her newborn nephew, while another depicts Barbara holding Edward as Jenna looks on with admiration. The third image in the gallery shows Edward peacefully nestled in his mother’s arms.

Although Jenna didn’t share many details about her nephew’s birth, the photos convey the family’s joy. According to Today.com, Edward was seen wearing a hat from NYU Langone Health, hinting that Barbara may have given birth at the renowned New York City hospital.

George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, have often expressed their joy in becoming grandparents. When Barbara and Craig’s daughter, Cora, was born, the former President and First Lady released a joint statement celebrating the occasion.

In October 2021, Barbara and Craig revealed that Cora Georgia Coyne was born on September 27, 2021, in Maine, near the family’s residence where they were married. “Cora is both adorable and healthy, and we are filled with pride and gratitude.”
