A disturbing video has surfaced showing an elementary school principal and a clerk in southwest Florida paddling a 6-year-old student, allegedly for scratching a computer screen. The incident was captured by the child’s mother, who was at the school to pay a fine for the damage her daughter was accused of causing. Fearing that no one would believe her, the mother decided to record the event.
Despite the school district’s handbook explicitly prohibiting corporal punishment, Florida law does not specifically ban it. The child’s mother described the paddling as brutal and terrifying, causing both physical and potential psychological harm.
The family’s attorney expressed deep concern over the severity of the punishment, labeling it as “aggravated battery.” The mother has since taken her daughter to a doctor to document the injuries.
The video has ignited outrage and demands for justice, with many calling for the school district to take appropriate action in response to the incident.
