The renowned singer and performer Barbra Streisand has reiterated her intention to leave the country if Donald Trump wins the presidency again. A vocal Democrat and supporter of Hillary Clinton in 2016, Streisand expressed her distaste for living in the nation under Trump’s presidency during an interview with Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show.”
When Colbert asked where she might go if she were to leave, Streisand casually responded, “Probably England. I like England.”
This statement echoes her previous remarks before the 2016 election, when she mentioned considering a move to Canada or another country if Trump were to win. Despite her prior declarations, like many other celebrities, Streisand chose to stay in the United States after the 2016 election.
Other celebrities, including Amy Schumer, Bryan Cranston, and Cher, made similar vows but remained in the country following Trump’s election.
Streisand has frequently criticized Trump, referring to him as the “Liar in Chief” and the “Groper in Chief.” She has called him “so stupid” and “so ill-informed,” expressing deep regret over his “heartbreaking” election victory in 2016.
In 2018, Streisand continued her criticism of Trump with her album “Walls.” The song “Don’t Lie to Me” featured sharp lyrics questioning the falsification of facts and the global repercussions of such actions.
In 2021, Streisand described Trump’s presidency as “four years in a black hole,” highlighting the detrimental impact of disinformation, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. She emphasized the importance of honesty and transparency from leaders, stating, “Tell people the truth; they can deal with it.”
Streisand’s public discourse on politics and societal concerns is characterized by her unwavering candor.
