The car belonging to Samantha Jean Hopper, who disappeared with her daughter 23 years ago in Arkansas, has been discovered submerged in eight feet of water, with human remains inside.
The discovery was made by Adventures With Purpose, a nonprofit organization dedicated to solving cold cases, on Tuesday. Hopper was last seen on September 11, 1998, while traveling to Little Rock.
The Pope County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the remains will undergo DNA testing to confirm their identities. The sheriff’s office also expressed their condolences to the families.
Hopper’s daughter, Dezarea, revealed that her mother had been nine months pregnant at the time of her disappearance. Although the discovery is heartbreaking, she shared that it brings a sense of closure after years of uncertainty.
