Drake faced another substantial loss in his string of sports bets, this time wagering on Tyson Fury to win against Oleksandr Usyk. Unfortunately for the rapper, Fury’s defeat by split decision in Saudi Arabia meant a loss of $565,000 from his pocket. Prior to the fight, Drake had staked this amount on Fury, hoping for a potential payout of $1 million.
This defeat adds to a series of losses for Drake in combat sports betting. He previously lost money on Francis Ngannou’s loss to Anthony Joshua, Sean Strickland’s defeat by Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297, Israel Adesanya’s loss to Strickland, and Logan Paul’s victory over Dillon Danis. Additionally, in December 2022, Drake lost $1 million betting on the World Cup final between Argentina and France, and another $275,000 when Colby Covington defeated Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272 last year.
However, Drake did experience a significant win earlier this year when he bet $1.15 million on the Kansas City Chiefs to beat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. His bet paid off, with the Chiefs winning the game 25-22 in overtime, and Patrick Mahomes earning his third MVP trophy.
