Home Free, the popular a cappella group, has released a stunning rendition of “God Bless The USA,” featuring country music legend Lee Greenwood and The United States Air Force Band.
Originally written and performed by Greenwood in 1984, “God Bless The USA” was inspired by his desire to create a patriotic anthem. After the tragic downing of Korean Air Lines Flight 007, Greenwood felt the time had come to unite the nation with a song of hope and pride. Though it found success on the country charts, the song’s powerful message resonated deeply with Americans following the September 11th attacks, cementing its place as a patriotic classic.
With lyrics like: “And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free,
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me,”
the song continues to stir national pride and remembrance of those who have sacrificed for freedom.
Home Free, known for their rich vocal harmonies and unique arrangements, won Season 4 of The Sing-Off and have built a loyal fanbase ever since. The group consists of Austin Brown, Rob Lundquist, Adam Rupp, Tim Foust, and Adam Chance. For this special collaboration, they are joined by Greenwood and the talented musicians of The U.S. Air Force Band to create a powerful and heartfelt performance of this patriotic anthem.
