Schoolboy, 9, Found Dead in Woods: Heartbroken Family Pays Tribute to ‘Loving’ Son
In a tragic turn of events, nine-year-old Jordan Moore was found unresponsive in a wooded area of Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, on Sunday, June 2. Emergency services rushed to the scene near Abbeygreen Road at 6:50 pm after receiving reports of concern for a child, but sadly, Jordan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jordan’s heartbroken family described him as a “loving, caring, happy, handsome wee boy” and expressed their profound grief. Police Scotland has confirmed that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding Jordan’s death following a post-mortem examination. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
In a statement, Jordan’s family said, “Our Jordan was the most loving, caring, happy, handsome wee boy. He’ll forever be in all our hearts.”
Detective Inspector Vicki Douglas extended her condolences, saying, “Our thoughts are with Jordan’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. His family are being supported by officers and have requested that their privacy is respected at this time.”
Debbie MacKenna, headteacher of Woodpark Primary School in Lesmahagow, paid a heartfelt tribute to Jordan, calling him an “energetic, fun-loving pupil.”
“We are all deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Jordan, who was a valued member of our school community,” she said. “Jordan was an energetic, fun-loving boy who was loyal to his friends and family, and was loved by us all. His radiant smile, his singing and dancing, and his sense of humor lit up our school. We keep Jordan’s family and friends very much in our thoughts and prayers, and we will continue to support our school community at this very sad time.”
